The outer two planets are cold – Uranus and Neptune. Because they are so far from the sun, they don’t get much heat. So they even have frozen gases there.

Plenty of planets are cold because they are really far away from their stars. That’s also the case for some of the planets in our own solar system, but even more so for planets around very cold stars!

Hello draw396, there are lots of different planets out there. Some are really hot (like Venus) and some are really cold (like Neptune). There is also a ‘dwarf’ planet called Pluto which is very cold. The planets are cold because the are a long way away from our Sun and don’t receive much sunshine! : -)

There are loads of cold planets in our solar system. Even the closest plane to the sun, Mercury, has ice in large meteorite craters that never see the sun.
