Hi Bigchungus2 (another great name!), it seems a bit scary at the moment doesn’t it? The good news is that there are scientists out there working really hard to find out more about the virus so that we can make proper decisions rather than just panicking! If we all do our bit to wash our hands and try not to cough on people, hopefully it won’t be as bad as the media are telling us it might be! 🙂
This coronavirus is another new flu going around and the reason everyone is concerned about it is because people haven’t caught it before so there is no one who is immune to it yet. If everyone caught it at the same time, then everybody would be off work and school, which wouldn’t be very good. So the authorities are trying to spread out people catching it, so that only a few people are off work at the same time. Then things can carry on without too much trouble. Although lots of people will catch it, it doesn’t seem to affect children very much, and middle-aged people tend to get over it. Just people who are already ill have to be careful.
You can focus on the positives: it is already having the greatest effects against climate change and it will likely prevent the worst climate change scenarios. If we learn, work together and focus on positive changes, perhaps we can both protect most people and also end up in a better society at the end and even tackle climate change finally
