We are hoping to set up colonies on the moon and maybe Mars in the near future but it would be hard to live there, as we would need to have houses that are sealed to keep the air and heat in. And when we went outside we would need to wear space suits so we could breath and keep warm. And plants would need to be grown inside, too. So it is possible but it would be difficult. And we don’t have the technology to travel to planets in other solar systems yet, as they are too far away – unless you are the one to invent a warp drive, which would be great. 🙂

Hello Sniper, Scientists that I work with are planning something called a ‘Moon Village’ that will be based on the Moon. Old lava tubes (areas under cold rock that used to contain hot magmas/ lavas) that are now empty are thought to be a good place to live because humans can be shielded from dangerous cosmic rays! 🙂

At the moment no other planet on the Solar System would work for us. We would have to overcome tremendous challenges. Mars may end up being a distant possibility of course, but we will still have do so much to get there.

Maybe Mars, but if we look at the most extreme places on Earth – like in deserts and in Antarctica – even on Earth its hard to survive there. If we go to Mars where there is no atmosphere it will be very difficult and expensive to have a lot of people living there. One day we may have a science base on the Moon and Mars but we have a lot of work to do.
